In March 2021, Energiesprong Italy was launched through the founding of EDERA srl Impresa Sociale, the innovation centre for decarbonising and retrofitting the built environment. EDERA set up a market development team of four people to implement and adapt the Energiesprong approach to the Italian context.
First steps
Energiesprong Italy is ready to take off: 25 large and small companies of excellence within the construction industry have joined the movement and started to innovate their production processes. Different supply chains have been created to work on six pilots projects, which will be the first Italian examples of deep industrialised retrofits. The pilot buildings are spread out across North Italy with a total of 170 dwellings to be retrofitted by implementing off-site, integrated solutions based on different technologies and materials (wood, steel, concrete and hybrid couplings). The buildings will undergo, not only energy-based retrofits, but also anti-seismic off-site reinforcements – with this being a challenging experiment for the whole Energiesprong European network. The first pilot project has been completed in mid-July 2022 in Corte Franca (Brescia), where a 2 floors building of 5 dwellings has been retrofitted to NZEB.
In 2023 a working group with the most relevant social housing organizations and different public authorities will be established to discuss specifications and procurement models.

The market development team, Energiesprong, has received financial support from:
- Fondazione Cariplo, one of the most influential philanthropic institutions supporting thousands of non-profit organisations and projects in culture, scientific research, the environment and the social realm.

- The Innovation programme Horizon2020 / INFINITE relating to industrialised, sustainable building envelope retrofitting.
